Trying to Stop Hair Pulling Needs More Than Willpower Alone

Believing that willpower can completely end your hair pulling is the 2nd biggest mistake that hair pullers make when it comes to trying to stop pulling.

And that’s too bad because you can spend your whole life trying to gain control of your hair pulling and never really get free of it for good. Trying to control your pulling without healing the legitimate reasons why you do it, just forces it deeper into your life.

In my experience, all willpower can ever do is to temporarily stop your pulling. But it always comes back. This increases your anxiety because willpower can’t address the valid reasons why you began to pull in the first place.

How long have you been trying to gain control over your hair pulling? And, how successful has it been for you? If you haven’t yet completely succeeded with this approach, isn’t it time to end your belief that this method will ever work for you?

It’s amazing how much hair pullers unconsciously beat themselves up over this. The belief that willpower alone is the answer to your hair pulling problem, is simply a lie that comes from many of the negative messages in our culture. If you believe this lie, you will then use it as a weapon against yourself because it creates a further belief that you are stupid, shameful or bad for not being able to control your pulling. Please stop hurting yourself in this way right now!
